Musa's tailoring workshop now trains five other young men in Hong LGA.

Zainab helped mediate years of conflict between two Lamurde communities.
Hadiza's Story
Before the new borehole, Hadiza's daughters walked nearly 6km every morning before school just to fetch water — arriving late, exhausted, and falling behind in class.
"Since the new borehole opened, my daughters spend their mornings in school instead of walking for water. Our whole community has changed."
Today, the solar-powered borehole sits 500 metres from Hadiza's home. Her daughters attend school full-time, and Hadiza has joined the community WASH committee that keeps the borehole maintained for over 1,200 people.
Musa's Story
After his family's farmland was lost to displacement, Musa struggled to find steady income. He enrolled in SRF's six-month vocational skills programme and trained as a tailor.
"The tailoring training gave me a trade of my own. I now train five other young men in my workshop."
With a start-up grant and market linkage support, Musa opened a small workshop in Hong town. He now employs and mentors five apprentices, several of whom have gone on to open their own shops.
Zainab's Story
Years of land disputes had cut off two neighbouring communities in Lamurde from each other — no shared market, no shared school run, no trust. Zainab, a respected community elder, joined SRF's dialogue programme as a mediator.
"The dialogue sessions helped our two communities put years of conflict behind us. We share the same market again."
Through facilitated dialogue sessions in partnership with UNDP, the two communities re-established their shared market and formed a joint peace committee that Zainab now co-chairs.
